Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how BuyCospa ("we", "us", "our", or "the site") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit buycospa.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you give us
We collect information you voluntarily provide — for example, your email address when you contact us at [email protected], or your name and message if you submit a correction or a tip. We use this information only to respond to your inquiry.
1.2 Information collected automatically
When you visit the Service, we (and our third-party partners) automatically log:
- IP address and approximate geographic region (country / city-level)
- Browser type, operating system, device type, screen resolution
- Referrer (the page you came from) and exit pages
- Pages viewed, time on page, and click patterns
This data is collected via cookies, local storage, and server logs. It is aggregated and used to understand which articles are useful and where the site is broken. We do not use it to identify individual visitors.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. We use cookies for the following purposes:
- Strictly necessary cookies — for example, to remember your dark-mode preference. These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and engagement. See section 4.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense and (where used) other ad partners. See section 5.
- Affiliate cookies — set by Amazon Associates and similar programs to attribute purchases. See section 6.
You can refuse non-essential cookies via your browser settings, or by using a tool such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Note that disabling cookies may degrade your experience on the site.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service
- Understand which articles are read and which aren't
- Detect and prevent abuse, spam, and security incidents
- Respond to your direct inquiries
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, lease, or trade email addresses with third parties.
4. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. GA4 uses cookies to help us analyze how visitors use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the site (including your truncated IP address) is transmitted to and stored by Google.
Google uses this information on our behalf for the purpose of evaluating your use of the site, compiling reports on site activity, and providing other services relating to site activity and internet usage. Google's privacy practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Advertising — Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC, to display ads on the Service. AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
Google uses advertising cookies to enable it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of certain third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
AdSense partners and other third-party ad networks may also use cookies to collect information for ad personalization and measurement. A full list of AdSense partners and their policies is available at Google's Advertising Policies page.
6. Affiliate programs
BuyCospa participates in affiliate programs including but not limited to:
- Amazon Associates
- Rakuten Affiliate Network
- Yahoo! Shopping Affiliate
- Other retailer-specific affiliate programs
These programs use cookies to attribute purchases to our site. When you click an affiliate link on the Service and complete a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission. The commission comes from the retailer, not from any additional charge to you. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the retailer.
Affiliate relationships are disclosed within each article and on our About page. Affiliate commissions do not influence our editorial verdicts.
7. Data retention
Server logs are retained for 90 days for security and debugging purposes, after which they are aggregated and the raw logs are deleted. Google Analytics data is retained for the default 14-month window. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to address your inquiry, and then archived in encrypted backups that are not actively used.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Request that we correct or delete your personal data
- Object to or restrict our processing of your data
- Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent)
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority
GDPR (EU / EEA visitors)
The legal basis for processing your data is our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Where required, we will request your consent for non-essential cookies. To exercise any right under the GDPR, email [email protected] — we will respond within 30 days.
CCPA / CPRA (California visitors)
California residents have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information we have collected, and the right to opt out of any "sale" of personal information. BuyCospa does not sell personal information. To make a verifiable consumer request, email [email protected].
9. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
We are headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in Japan, the United States, the European Economic Area, and other countries where our service providers operate. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers from the EEA to countries without an adequacy decision.
11. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption, restricted access to production systems, and least-privilege access control. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to us.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page. For material changes, we will make a reasonable effort to provide prominent notice — for example, a banner on the homepage for at least 30 days.
13. Contact
For any privacy-related question, request, or complaint, email [email protected]. We aim to respond within 30 days.
